iF Design Gold Award Goes to 2021 Ford Bronco for Outstanding Design

The Ford Bronco is making a triumphant return in 2021, sure to win the hearts of off-road enthusiasts and casual drivers alike. But the Bronco's impact goes beyond its impressive capabilities, as it has now been awarded the prestigious iF Design Gold Award for Outstanding Design by iF International Forum Design GmbH.

The iF Design Award is one of the most respected design competitions in the world, with a history spanning over 60 years. It recognizes excellence in design across various categories, including product design, communication design, and packaging design.

The 2021 Ford Bronco was awarded the iF Design Gold Award in the Automobiles/Vehicles category, beating out stiff competition from other notable car manufacturers.

“It’s great to see the world of high design meeting the wild and to be recognized for our efforts,” said Paul Wraith, Bronco chief designer. “Our focus was getting our users out deep into the landscape exploring, which inspired some breakout product design. We’re excited that the innovations our team loved are the same things Bronco customers will love.”

The result is a vehicle that captures the spirit and essence of the original Bronco, but with modern features and capabilities that make it an exciting option for drivers today.

As noted by the iF Design jurors, "The 2021 Bronco is the 6th generation truck to carry the name but leans into the graphic imagery and utility-led architecture of the 1st-generation 1966 vehicle. The visual DNA captures the single-piece grille, round lights bisected by a bar carrying the product name, the front fender ‘trail sights’ helping the user see the vehicle's corners, contrast color removable roof, redacted surface language where all superfluous styling or detail has been removed."

“Many products are relatively simple objects, from a design standpoint,” Wraith said. “Vehicles are not. With Bronco, they looked at a number of things – from the modularity and the cleverness of the doors storing in back, to the larger notion of bringing back an icon.”

Receiving the IF Design Gold Award is a significant achievement for the Ford Bronco, as it highlights the vehicle's exceptional design and further cements its status as an icon in the automotive industry. With its impressive off-road capabilities, distinctive design, and now a prestigious design award to its name, the 2021 Ford Bronco is truly a vehicle to be reckoned with.
